Well, I have kept it a bit quiet but I have been having some issues with my left knee recently. I had an MRI today and should hear the results tomorrow or wednesday. I’m hoping for the best, but, almost hoping I need it scoped so I can just get it fixed and move on with it! I am sick of trying to train through it only to be disappointed that I can’t.
I have still been able to do some parallel squats and power snatch and power clean. Of course, since I am back in Iowa I have had to do some random exercises like Hip Sled and find ways to still get some good training in despite the lack of equipment. I have been making it work though.
Despite all the knee problems I have still been training really well. It is really kind of strange. I feel it is probably because I am forced NOT to do the lifts that it makes me that much hungrier to do the lifts and lift in general.
I have also only been able to get into the weight room to train 1x per day, which is a good and a bad thing. Good because when I get in there I am just fired up and ready to go. Bad because my hips get pretty tight by not going through the motions (even though I can’t bend my knee below parallel currently).
I might try to get a video of my hip sled sets or something just for the heck of it haha. It is a fun exercise and doesn’t really hurt me knee because of a wider foot stance and the limited ROM.
I also might be doing a full powerlifting meet on May 5th (if the knee is healthy enough to squat to parallel at that point). The RAW American Record Bench Press is 177.5kg in my weight and age category…That would fall for sure if I can do the meet haha. Anyway, hopefully get this knee figured out and really start getting after it soon.
