A lot of people ask me how they should train when they are in a sport. There are a million philosophies on it but I’ll post a few rules that I personally like to follow:
#1. Remember that your #1 goal should be to be at your best for each game.
#2. Keep your time in the weight room down, but intensity levels up.
#3. Limit the number of days a week in the weight room. 2-3 is a great number.
#4. Don’t try to be superman on one day, then not lift for 6. Instead, break it up into 2-3 days.
#5. Stay hydrated (Had to sneak this in).
#6. Try to train more than 4 hours before your practice. (I personally recover best after 6-7 hours)
#7. Cut down on the accessory movements. Stick to the basics!
