I got invited to go to the World University Games in Shenzhen, China!! It takes place August 13-22. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to represent the US and go compete against some international competition. It is like the Olympic Games for college aged athletes. I don’t want to just go over there and be happy to compete, though. I want to go win. Nationals is first, though. So I have to put 100% of my focus on that.
With great opportunity usually comes some obstacles as well. I will need to fundraise about $2500 for me to make the trip. Since it is short notice to make the trip the fees are a little bit more expensive as well. I just don’t want to pass on the opportunity to go compete for the US. There are a total of 15 athletes on the US World University Team (8 male, 7 female).
Estimated Costs:
Flight- about $1800 (still searching for cheapest)
Housing/food- about $600
Passport/Visa- about $400
Total Estimated Costs: $2800
If there is any way at all any of you can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I just moved to Las Vegas and have been job searching as well. It Every little bit counts and I’d love to be able to go represent the US! I will keep a running tally on here so I can continue to thank everyone who has helped. I have already had some tremendous help in moving to Las Vegas from some people which has made the transition much easier.
