So I’ve had a day or two to really digest my trip down south this weekend. I know I am probably being a prisoner of the moment, but, wow. I was blown away with the “Southern Hospitality” as they call it. The very first person I called (Jason, the gym owner at Crossfit Old South) had a voicemail with a thick southern accent & saying “god bless you,.” I knew right away this was going to be my type of people. Southern Hospitality.
After calling him..He then worked diligently to find a gym for me to train at in Nashville. After an hour and a half of searching he found one for me. Incredible. He spent a large portion of his friday night to help me get a workout in…In another city…Southern Hospitality
So, I go to that gym expecting to pay the $20 standard Drop In Fee at most crossfits. I insist on paying a drop in fee and he tells me not to worry about it…That it was his pleasure he could help me when no other gym would answer their phones. Not only that…but, he even helped me load and unload my weights while lifting!! Southern Hospitality.
Fast forward to the morning…The entire group at the seminar blew me away. I was seriously shocked at the pure kindness of everyone. Everyone was so genuine. Of course, they hit tons of PRs & I even had a snatch PR of my own to make the day pretty outstanding.
We go out on the town in Nashville saturday night (Thanks to an awesome girl at the seminar who told us where to check out) and try to find a steakhouse. We ask this cop if he knows where one is. He says not that he knows of nearby. We walk about a block away…and all the sudden this cop is chasing us!! What the heck???? He literally ran us down to tell us that he forgot about a steakhouse that was just 3 blocks away. Ha! Southern Hospitality at its absolute finest.
We had too good of a night out at Tootsies, The Stage, and everywhere else that we missed our flights in the morning! Yikes. I booked through HotWire so I had to bite the bullet. Meaning, that, I was unable to change the flight or get a refund or exchange it. IT was final. I go to the airport having been told I had to purchase a whole new flight “no matter what.”
I walk up to United Airlines…talk to this very sweet black lady and after 20 minutes of explaining the situation she books me a FREE direct flight to Minneapolis. When I asked hotwire that same flight was $622……………….Southern Hospitality.
I travel a lot and I do a lot of seminars, but, this place caught my attention like no other place so far.. I am STILL blown away at the people I met at the seminar and everyone else I encountered. Of course, those sweet southern accents on the girls there didn’t hurt either 🙂
Here’s to Crossfit Old South, the guy at Crossfit Cool Springs, and the city of Nashville…You guys blew me away. My first visit to the South leaves me itching to go back ASAP!!! Thank you! And of course thank you to Strength Specific Seminars 🙂
